A solid HPC experience
Eurotech (ETH.MI) is a global company based in Italy, with subsidiaries in Europe, North America and Asia. The Eurotech Group develops and markets miniaturized computers for special uses (NanoPCs) and computers featuring high computing capacity (HPCs – High Performance Computers). With these two product categories Eurotech aims to become a leader in the implementation of the pervasive computing scenario which, by exploiting the Cloud IT infrastructure, is capable of enabling an entire range of value-added activities and services in the transport, logistics, security, industrial and medical sectors.
High performance computing in Eurotech dates back to 1998, when the company started a project on neural-network computer farms. Always keeping innovation abreast of anything else, for the following 10 years Eurotech built special machines and general purpose supercomputers for many leading European institutions and companies.
Eurotech HPC has a long history of collaborations with prestigious research institutes, like the INFN (the world renowned Italian National Physics institute), University of Ferrara, Zaragoza, Julich and others. The result of these collaborations has been the development of innovative supercomputers like apeNext, Janus and the next generation LQCD machine QPACE.
Following the evolution of supercomputers into HPC systems, eager to build on the design and engineering experienced matured, Eurotech decided to shape the HPC division as a business unit within the Eurotech group, with its own commercial and technical structure. Today, on the one hand Eurotech keeps participating to important research projects (like the European exascale, just to mention a prominent one). On the other hand, it offers, under the name Aurora, HPC solutions, which includes hardware, manufactured in its own facilities, software and services.
The Eurotech Aurora systems are rooted in a solid history of R&D, technical competence and robust skills acquired in more than 10 years of dedication to high performance computers and their applications.
